What motivates you to work hard?
I’ve always been a competitive person. Competitive with others and myself. That goal to achieve being cutting edge and winning has always been a passion of mine, even if it's just for fun. That brought me into this drive for continuous improvements. Like the group Daft Punk says “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger”. The love to make things the best, or the most cutting-edge is my professional pursuit.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
Knowing that college students are so influential and that they are at a very vulnerable and pivotal stage of their lives, being able to help them navigate the career space is my favorite part of my job. Getting out of the gate with your career is so important, so I love being a professional coach to those on the cusp of finding their career.
What was your first job?
Shagging golf balls by hand at the local country club. I was 13 and I wanted to start saving for a car, ha ha. I made 8 bucks an hour in the summer heat picking balls by hand.
How would your friends describe you?
Out of the box, and never met a stranger.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
Norah Jones – Best Friend… it was our first dance song at our wedding.
What are your hobbies?
I DJ on the weekends, and I also own my own music studio where I record for artists outside of work hours. I also have a 5-year-old who loves to play music with me after work.
Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?
Zac Efron.

Recruiter, Business & Industry Sectors
Sloane Mayberry is a recruiter on the University Relations team at Compass Group, focusing on Business and Industry sectors. Sloane attended the Savannah College of Art and Design where she received her BFA in Fashion Marketing and Management. She began her career in sales in the fashion industry but has always been passionate about food and helping others, which is why she decided to change industries and join Compass Group!
What motivates you to work hard?
My biggest motivation is family. Everyone in my family is such a hard worker and it motivates me to be better and work hard not only for me, but for them as well.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
My favorite thing about being a Recruiter on the University Relations team is helping others and empowering people. I love speaking to others and building meaningful relationships. I also know from personal experience how much landing a great job can mean to someone!
What was your first job?
My first job was at Reid’s Fine Foods in Charlotte, NC prepping food and making sandwiches. I’ve always loved food so this was perfect for me to get hands-on experience!
How would your friends describe you?
I think my friends would describe me as loyal. My friends mean the world to me, and I’d do pretty much anything for them!
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
Ironic by Alanis Morrisette – it really gets the crowd going
What are your hobbies?
I really love cooking, baking, gardening, and a good reality TV show!
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
My mom’s tomato pie and crab cakes with red velvet cake for dessert!

Recruiter, Education Sectors
Brenna Hart is a University Relations recruiter supporting all of the education sectors. Brenna began her career with Compass Group in August of 2017 in their Manager in Training Program. She worked for five years at UNC Charlotte supporting their retail, residential and concessions program before moving to the Talent Acquisition world. Brenna is a New Jersey native and graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management.
What motivates you to work hard?
A high energy group of people! Having people around you that share common goals and continue to want to improve everyday; those are the types of people I enjoy working with
What is your favorite thing about your career?
I love seeing the passion that this next generation has! They are motivated, hardworking, and have a passion for this industry. I want to help them achieve those goals that they have.
What was your first job?
My first job was a camp counselor at my local day camp!
How would your friends describe you?
Kind, funny, loyal and always down for a spontaneous adventure!
What would you sing at Karaoke night?

What are your hobbies?
I really enjoy watching sports (specifically football and soccer) and spending time with family & friends

Chicken Parmesan with a side of Spaghetti!

Recruiter, Healthcare & Community Living Sectors
Cassandra “Cassie” Linn is a University Relations senior recruiter supporting Compass Group’s various healthcare and community living sectors in both foodservice and support services. Cassie has been in the recruiting world for more than 17 years, but it’s the more recent years spent in college recruiting where she’s truly found her home! She absolutely loves working with early talent, understanding their goals, and helping shape their career journey. Cassie has been with Compass Group and the University Relations team since 2017. She received her Bachelor of Science in Communications (Public Relations) from the University of North Florida.
What motivates you to work hard?
Working for a company with goals and a purpose I believe in, as well as being surround by teammates that motivate and inspire me – this is where I thrive!
What is your favorite thing about your career?
The opportunity to mentor young and upcoming professionals gives me true gratification! I love watching talent I had a part in bringing to the company learn and grow in their careers.
What was your first job?
Aside from babysitting, my first real job was as an ice cream scooper for a small-town shop called Country Cone in Upstate NY.
How would your friends describe you?
Caring, inquisitive, intuitive, a good listener and advisor, and maybe (almost definitely) a bit sarcastic. 😃

Recruiter, Compass Corporate
Thuy Tran is a recruiter on the University Relations team at Compass Group, focusing on Corporate and Foodbuy’s campus programs. She began her career in Student Housing but has always been passionate about helping others, which is why she decided to change industries and pursue a career in Talent Acquisition. Thuy obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
What motivates you to work hard?
Working with a team that knows your value and supports your work!
What is your favorite thing about your career?
I love connecting with people and helping them navigate their careers. I know how stressful the transition can be going from academia to full-time work. Having someone there to help be a guide can truly make a difference.
What was your first job?
My first job was at a local grocery store at the age of 16!
How would your friends describe you?
I think my friends would describe me as empathetic, a good listener, their personal hype woman and quirky.

What are your hobbies?
My favorite things to do are crafting, working on DIY projects, being outdoors and spending time with loved ones.

Pho and more specifically my dad’s homemade Pho!

Campus Ambassador, Compass Corporate
Ryam is the Campus Ambassador for Corporate University Relation at Compass. She works to connect universities and students with Compass, helps students find early career opportunities, and creates events and engagement opportunities for students outside of large-scale career fairs (although, she would love to see you at the career fairs as well =)). Ryam graduated with her bachelor’s degree from UNC- Chapel Hill and her master’s degree from Appalachian State University. She has also worked in various educational settings including working at local colleges. Working with students and helping them achieve their goals is her passion and she is excited to do just that in her current role at Compass.
What motivates you to work hard?
I like producing work that I am proud of. Having others notice my work and the details in it makes me happy!
What is your favorite thing about your career?
My favorite thing is helping young professionals to see their own potential and connecting them to the world outside of the classroom. I love doing that by thinking of creative ways to meet and engage those professionals at their universities.
What was your first job?
My first job was working at Nestle Toll House at the Mall. I loved decorating the cookie cakes, most fun part of the job.
How would your friends describe you?
I think my friends would describe me as a great listener, an empathetic person, and also as someone with a sarcastic sense of humor.

What are your hobbies?
I love artsy crafts-y stuff and watching an entire season of a new show in a few days
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I love Greek food and will gladly eat a chicken gyro with tzatziki sauce everyday for the rest of my life

Coordinator, University Relations
As the University Relations Coordinator, Amanda Carr assists and supports the team by managing and helping with various tasks and projects to ensure success in the student and college graduate recruiting process. Amanda graduated from Queens University of Charlotte with a B.A. in Communications with a Psychology minor. She worked as a testing center coordinator for students with disabilities in higher education. She loved her service and her connection with students and faculty. Amanda was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, and has been loving having four seasons throughout the year since moving back to Charlotte to work at Compass Group.
What motivates you to work hard?
My primary motivation to work hard is knowing that I am helping people somehow. I found throughout my life that serving others gives me a sense of purpose and fulfillment. No matter how small the task may be, I will always help wherever I can.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
The team, hands down. Everyone at Compass has been welcoming and helpful since I’ve been here, and I am so grateful to be part of it.
What was your first job?
I had a lot of babysitting and dog-sitting throughout college!
How would your friends describe you?
My friends tell me I am responsible, good-humored, thoughtful, loyal, and always someone you can count on.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
No one wants to hear that. My singing would ruin Karaoke night. But if I had to pick, it would be “American Pie” by Don McLean.
